Children everywhere, and even adults, enjoy reading my illustrated book called The Lion and the Egg.  The story is about a lion that finds an egg that eventually hatches a duckling.  The duckling imprints onto the lion and follows the lion everywhere.  This is a story about adversity, diversity, security and insecurity of both animals as the lion tries to figure out how to raise the ducking.

There is a direct analogy of  The Lion and the Egg story with that of families with adopted children, or with single parent families trying to learn how to raise their first and only child through trial and error.
